Request Custom QuoteThe right smart card comes down to the chip (IC) — which sets your security level and memory — plus the frequency and the card finish you need for printing or durability. Use the guide below, or send us your access-control or ticketing requirement for a recommendation.
| Chip / IC | Frequency | Security | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mifare Classic 1K/4K | 13.56 MHz | Basic (CRYPTO1) | Access control, attendance, loyalty |
| Mifare DESFire EV1/EV3 | 13.56 MHz | High (AES/3DES) | Secure access, transit, payments |
| Mifare Ultralight | 13.56 MHz | Low | Single-use tickets, events |
| LF Proximity (EM/T5577) | 125 kHz | Basic | Legacy access control, simple ID |
For anything involving payments, transit, or sensitive access, choose DESFire (AES-encrypted) over Mifare Classic.
DESFire (AES/3DES) is significantly more secure. Mifare Classic's CRYPTO1 is fine for basic attendance and access, but not for payments or sensitive applications.
